Touchdown Dance: Confidence Picks Challenge & Spread Selections Re-Cap (Week 17)

I will take a victory anyway I can get it, but to do it to weeks in a row without a opponent is disappointing. Anywho, I did take the win for the Confidence Picks Challenge during Week 17 with (110/136) points. I missed on three games this past weekend where the total may have been able to beat any opponent anyways. I would like to thank all the participants for joining the fun at the Confidence Picks Challenge. Next year there will be some changes to the Confidence Picks Challenge next season. First, each weekly winner will receive a Touchdown Dance (the blog) t-shirt and the overall champ for the entire season will receive the first ever Confidence Picks Challenge trophy with your named engraved upon it. I look forward to another fun season next year within the Confidence Picks Challenge and I hoped you enjoyed my personal humiliation I performed on my fancasts at FanvsFan.com when I happened to lose the Confidence Picks Challenge.

I fared well in the last regular season week within my spread selection also. Much better in picking the over/under this week than the spread, but I did assure myself an over .500 finish in picking both the spread and the over/under. Which I find quite impressive since I picked every game this season.

Spread Selections

Indianapolis @ Buffalo (-8.5) (36) Take the Colts (+8.5) and the over. Buffalo- 30 Indianapolis- 7 Total- 37 I guess the Colts back-ups aren't very good which cost me the spread, but just enough Bills offense let me squeak by with an over victory. (0-1-0), (1-0-0)

New Orleans @ Carolina (OFF) Take the Panthers to win. Carolina- 23 New Orleans- 10 Total- 33 A relatively easy pick here with the Saints resting their starters. (1-1-0), (1-0-0)

Jacksonville @ Cleveland (-1.5) (37.5) Take the Jaguars (+1.5) and the over. Cleveland- 23 Jacksonville- 17 Total- 40 The Browns played very well against bad teams late in the season and I showed no faith which cost me the spread this week, but did hit on the over. (1-2-0), (2-0-0)

New England @ Houston (-8) (46) Take the Patriots (+8) and the over. Houston- 34 New England- 27 Total- 61 For me the Patriots playing their starters was a god send which netted me the spread and the over. (2-2-0), (3-0-0)

NY Giants @ Minnesota (-9.5) (47.5) Take the Giants (+9.5) and the over. Minnesota- 44 NY Giants- 7 Total- 51 The Giants embarrassing themselves for the second week in a row cost me the spread, but the Vikings offense got me the over. (2-3-0), (4-0-0)

San Francisco @ St. Louis (+7) (40.5) Take the Rams (+7) and the under. San Francisco- 28 St. Louis- 6 Total- 34 Late into the game I thought I was going to net the spread, but a late meltdown by the Rams cost me. I did hit on the under though. (2-4-0), (5-0-0)

Atlanta @ Tampa Bay (+2.5) (41.5) Take the Falcons (-2.5) and the over. Atlanta- 20 Tampa Bay- 10 Total- 30 The game was closer than I thought, but the Falcons had just enough to net me the spread just not enough to get me the over. (3-4-0), (5-1-0)

Pittsburgh @ Miami (+3) (45.5) Take the Dolphins (+3) and the over. Pittsburgh- 30 Miami- 24 Total- 54 The injury bug is never an excuse in football, but for gamblers it is which cost me the spread, but I did net the over once again. (3-5-0), (6-1-0)

Chicago @ Detroit (+3) (45) Take the Bears (-3) and the under. Chicago- 37 Detroit- 23 Total- 60 The Bears found an offense the last two games which helped me net the spread, but gave a little too much and I lost on the under. (4-5-0), (6-2-0)

Philadelphia @ Dallas (-3) (47.5) Take the Eagles (+3) and the under. Dallas- 24 Philadelphia- 0 Total- 24 The Eagles looked as if they forgot to board the plane to Dallas which cost me the spread, but did help in net me the under. (4-6-0), (7-2-0)

Kansas City @ Denver (-13) (38) Take the Chiefs (+13) and the over. Kansas City- 44 Denver- 24 Total- 68 Everything fell apart in Denver which help me net the spread and the over. (5-6-0), (8-2-0)

Baltimore @ Oakland (+10.5) (38) Take the Raiders (+10.5) and the under. Baltimore- 21 Oakland- 13 Total- 34 As usual the Raiders played a better team tough which netted me both numbers. (6-6-0), (9-2-0)

Tennessee @ Seattle (+4) (44) Take the Titans (-4) and the under. Tennessee- 17 Seattle- 13 Total- 30 The Titan's Chris Johnson helped me get the push on the spread and the lack of interest overall by both teams helped me net the under. (6-6-1), (10-2-0)

Washington @ San Diego (-4) (39) Take the Chargers (-4) and the under. San Diego- 23 Washington- 20 Total- 43 The Chargers back-ups came up just short of helping net the spread along with losing on the under here. (6-7-1), (10-3-0)

Green Bay @ Arizona (-3) (44) Take the Packers (+3) and the over. Green Bay- 33 Arizona- 7 Total- 40 Even further evidence that the Matt Leinhart era will be a scary one for the Cardinals which helped me net the spread, but the lack of offense cost me the over. (7-7-1), (10-4-0)

Cincinnati @ NY Jets (-10) (35) Take the Bengals (+10) and the over.
NY Jets- 37 Cincinnati- 0 Total- 37 Another team that forgot they had a game this weekend where the Bengals cost me the spread, but the Jets offense got me just enough to win on the over. (7-8-1), (11-4-0)
